What is an Action?

An Action meets a simple need: saving time when a recurring task always requires the same thinking, the same information, and the same steps, especially when it involves AI.

In practice, an Action packages a complex prompt and a set of instructions. With one click, you trigger this “recipe”: the AI follows the planned workflow, may ask you a few questions to fill in what’s missing, then searches for what it needs (in your integrations and/or the available knowledge base) before returning a ready-to-use result.

This makes it possible, for example, to produce a summary document, write an email, update a table, or sync information to a third-party service, without starting from scratch every time.

Why does it work this way? Because an Action can also include its own context files. This context provides the model with more precise and stable information, improving the relevance and consistency of the output.

Actions can be embedded in a Space, or remain available independently. In that case, they appear in your list of Actions under the input field for a new prompt.
