Connect your Dynamics 365 account to Goodweek to manage CRM records, leads, contacts, cases, and sales workflows directly from your AI workspace.
💡 This guide replaces the third-party-based setup.
The integration now runs on Microsoft's Dataverse MCP server, reached directly by Goodweek with the user's own Microsoft Entra sign-in. No third-party service sits in the flow anymore: Goodweek's own Entra application performs the OAuth flow and stores the tokens.
⚠️ Supported versions.
This integration supports Dynamics 365 CRM Online only, and the Dataverse environment must expose the Dataverse MCP server (Goodweek talks to https://<your-org>.crm<region-code>.dynamics.com/api/mcp). Not supported: Dynamics 365 Business Central (a separate Microsoft ERP product) and Dynamics 365 On-Premises (self-hosted installations).
Governance note. Access is delegated: Goodweek acts on behalf of the signed-in user and can never exceed the access that user already has in Dynamics 365. Outcomes and available tools vary with each user's permissions.
Prerequisites
Your organization admin has enabled the Dynamics 365 integration in the Goodweek Admin Panel under the Integrations tab.
You know your Dataverse environment URL (the address you open Dynamics 365 at, for example
https://contoso.crm.dynamics.com).Tenant-wide admin consent has been granted for the Goodweek application (see Admin Setup below).
Admin Setup
A one-time admin action is required before users in your organization can connect. This is enforced by Microsoft, not by Goodweek.
The integration uses delegated OAuth 2.0 through Microsoft Entra ID. Goodweek requests the Dataverse mcp.tools delegated permission for your environment plus offline access (to refresh tokens). Depending on your tenant policy, these permissions must be approved by an administrator first; otherwise users see a "Need admin approval", "Approval Required", or access_denied error when connecting.
Start with Scenario A. If users are still blocked, continue with Scenario B and then Scenario C.
Scenario A — Grant tenant-wide admin consent from Microsoft Entra
A Microsoft 365 Global Administrator or Dynamics 365 System Administrator must complete this step:
Go to the Microsoft Entra admin center at entra.microsoft.com.
Navigate to Enterprise applications in the left menu.
Search for Goodweek - Dynamics Connector in the list of applications. If it does not appear yet, a user must first attempt the connection from Goodweek to trigger the registration, then return here.
Open the Goodweek application and go to the Permissions section under Manage.
Click Grant admin consent for [your organization name].
Review the requested permissions (the Dataverse
mcp.toolsdelegated scope for your environment and offline access) and confirm.
Make sure the "Consent on behalf of your organization" checkbox is selected before confirming. Without it, consent is not applied globally and regular users stay blocked.
Once completed, all users in the organization can connect their individual Dynamics 365 accounts.
Scenario B — User consent policy is disabled at tenant level
Go to the Microsoft Entra admin center at entra.microsoft.com.
Navigate to Identity > Consent and permissions > User consent settings.
Under User consent for applications, verify whether user consent is allowed. If set to "Do not allow user consent", the admin can either enable user consent for all apps, or grant pre-authorization specifically for the Goodweek application.
Scenario C — Dynamics 365 environment access not granted
Go to the Power Platform Admin Center at admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com.
Select the relevant Dynamics 365 environment.
Go to Settings > Users + permissions > Users.
Ensure the user has been assigned a security role. At minimum, they need the Basic User role to connect.
User Connection — step by step
In Goodweek, open Integrations (the Tools page). Find the Dynamics 365 card and click Connect.
In the dialog, pick an Access Level:
View Only: read and search only. Goodweek can look things up and answer questions but cannot create or change anything.
Controlled Access: Goodweek can take action for you (create or update records) but always asks for your approval before anything that could affect others.
Enter your Dataverse environment URL: the address you open Dynamics 365 at, without any path, for example
https://contoso.crm.dynamics.com. It must be an https address ending in.dynamics.com. If you are unsure what it is, ask your Dynamics 365 administrator or find it in the Power Platform Admin Center under Environments. Make sure to use the correctcrmregion (e.g.crm11,crm).
Click Connect. A Microsoft sign-in popup opens. Sign in with the Microsoft 365 account that has access to your Dynamics 365 environment. If your browser blocks the popup, allow popups for Goodweek and try again.
Review the requested permissions and click Accept.
The popup closes and the Dynamics 365 card shows Connected. You can now use the Dynamics 365 tools in your chats.
📝 Retrying is safe.
If a sign-in attempt gets stuck or you abandon the popup, just click Connect again: the new attempt replaces the old one immediately. If you later finish a sign-in popup from an older attempt, Goodweek shows "This connection attempt was canceled because a newer one was started"; only the most recent attempt can complete.
Important Notes
Each user must connect their own account individually. Admin consent does not connect Dynamics 365 for everyone automatically.
Sign in the popup with the Microsoft account you actually want linked; the connection uses whichever account completes the sign-in.
Goodweek can only access the Dynamics 365 records and data that your individual user account has permission to see within your environment.
You can disconnect at any time from the Dynamics 365 card in Goodweek, and you can also revoke Goodweek's access from myapps.microsoft.com under the Apps section.
Available Tools
Tools are served live by Microsoft's Dataverse MCP server for your environment, so the exact set depends on your environment and your Dataverse permissions. The fixed Composio tool list from the previous guide no longer applies.
View Only exposes the read-only tools:
search,search_data,read_query,describe, andfile_download.Controlled Access additionally exposes the server's write tools (creating and updating records, running data operations). Goodweek asks for your approval before any action that changes data.
Use Cases
Capture leads from conversations. After qualifying a prospect in a Goodweek conversation, create the lead record directly in Dynamics 365, including contact details, source, and initial notes, without switching to the CRM.
Update opportunities after sales calls. Following a sales call, update the opportunity in Dynamics 365 with the latest status, estimated close date, and next steps.
Log support cases from client communications. When a client reports an issue, create a case in Dynamics CRM from within Goodweek, pre-populated with the relevant contact, account, and issue description.
Review pipeline data on demand. Search and query leads, opportunities, or invoices from within a Goodweek conversation to get a real-time snapshot of your pipeline without switching tools.
Troubleshooting
"Need admin approval", "Approval Required", or access_denied when connecting
Tenant-wide admin consent has not been granted yet for the Goodweek application. Ask your Microsoft 365 Global Administrator or Dynamics 365 System Administrator to complete Scenario A above. If the issue persists, also check Scenario B.
Admin granted consent but users are still blocked
Your organization may have user consent disabled at tenant level, or the admin may not have selected "Consent on behalf of your organization". Verify both Scenario A and Scenario B.
Connection works for the admin but not for regular users
This is typically a Dynamics 365 environment permissions issue. Ask your Dynamics 365 admin to verify the user's security role, as described in Scenario C.
The environment URL is rejected
The URL must be the plain address of your environment, https only, ending in .dynamics.com, with no path after it, for example https://contoso.crm.dynamics.com. Copy it from your browser's address bar when you have Dynamics 365 open, and remove everything after the domain.
"This connection attempt was canceled because a newer one was started"
You completed a sign-in popup from an older attempt after starting a new one. Nothing is broken: finish the most recent popup, or click Connect again.
The card shows an error after a failed sign-in
Click Connect again. A new attempt fully replaces the failed one.
I don't know my Dynamics 365 environment URL
Ask your Dynamics 365 administrator, or find it in the Power Platform Admin Center at admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com under Environments.
Integration not visible in Goodweek
Make sure your organization admin has enabled the Dynamics 365 integration from the Goodweek Admin Panel under the Integrations tab.
